According to the preliminary information, the terror act in the Volgograd bus was committed by a female suicide bomber. This was reported by the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the region. As a result, at least five persons were killed and at least 20 persons were injured, and the state of health of seven of them is estimated by physicians as grave.

On October 18, supporters of Djamil Gasanli, the former candidate for the presidency of the opposition, unsuccessfully attempted to challenge the legality of the final protocol of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan. According to the above protocol, incumbent President Ilham Aliev was elected the president of the country for the third time. At present, the activists prepare a complaint to the Supreme Court.

In the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, during the week from October 14 to October 20, 2013, at least 12 people were affected, including eight people who died and four others who were wounded.
