Snowfall paralyzes traffic in Sochi

Due to a heavy snowfall and icy roads, the patrol-and-post service (PPS) has restricted motor traffic in Sochi. Residents of the city report traffic jams and delays of electric trains.

The city was struck by a snowfall; the snow layer thickness exceeds 20 cm. "The traffic of urban transport has been restricted because of ice on highlands roads," said a PPS source.

According to his story, PPS inspectors would not let cars not equipped with winter tires into the city districts notable for high elevation changes; drivers have to leave their cars and get home on foot.

According to the Sochi International Airport representative, there were flight delays, but only by few minutes, because of clearing up the runway.
