Tbilisi refutes Sukhumi's statement on toughening position on border crossing

Traders of burnt-down marketplace in Makhachkala demand compensations
Today, about 70 traders from the burned Makhachkala marketplace "Dagelektromash" have gathered for a new protest action. They have stated that they received no compensation for the lost property; and the marketplace restoration is slow. In its turn, the Makhachkala administration asserts that those most needy had received some help.

EP calls on Moscow to investigate reports about gays’ persecutions in Chechnya
Today, the European Parliament (EP) adopted a resolution calling on the Russian authorities to investigate the reports about the detentions and torture of homosexuals in Chechnya. The Russian LGBT Network has reported that within the last six weeks 40 gays were brought away from the republic. According to the Network, detentions of gays in Chechnya have stopped; however, but it is not known how stable this situation is.

Asim Ragimov and Almir Akhmedov, Azerbaijani ex-citizens, who had received Russian citizenship and now live in Dagestan, have complained about the demands of Azerbaijani military commissariats to take their military service in the country. Prosecutor's Office sees no communal workers' guilt of four-storey house collapse in Volgograd
The house, partially destroyed by explosion, is under round-the-clock guard. Today, tenants were allowed to enter their apartments and take documents, money and valuables. According to investigators, the domestic gas explosion occurred due to damage to the gas pipeline at an attempt to illegally cut into the water supply.

Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia recognized as most homophobic countries of Europe
By the level of sexual minorities' rights, Azerbaijan takes the last, 49th place in the annual ranking of the ILGA-Europe – the European branch of the International Association of Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transgenders and Intersexuals. Russia is ranked 48th; Armenia – 47th.

Lawyers see political nature in position of chairman of Dagestani SC

Azerbaijani court obliges forced delivery of Yunus spouses
Today, in Baku, the court has pronounced the decision on the forced delivery of Leyla and Arif Yunus, who stay abroad. According to an advocate, for the next step, they will be put on the international wanted list. Experts doubt that the Yunus spouses will be extradited to the Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies.

The activists have marked the International Day Against Homophobia by gathering in front of the State Chancellery building in Tbilisi. They spoke in protection of the rights of people with non-conventional sexual orientation. Meanwhile, in the Georgian capital, counter-actions dedicated to the Day of Solidarity and Holiness of Family were launched.
