Three Georgian warders detained on charge of torturing prisoners

A former director of the prison No. 6 in Rustavi and two of his former subordinates are detained on the charge of inhuman treatment of prisoners in 2006, the Georgian General Prosecutor's Office reports.

Protesters set up tents in centre of Yerevan

At night, more than 300 opponents of Serzh Sargsyan stayed in France Square in the centre of Yerevan. The protestors used benches to block the streets leading to the square. Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the protest, urged activists to get prepared for the violent dispersal of the action.

Russia expels Georgian diplomat

Armenian GPO explains persecution of Salman Sever

A Muslim activist and blogger, known as Salman Sever, had two passports. One was issued in the name of Maxim Baidak, under which he was put on the wanted list by the Russian law enforcement bodies, while the second one was issued in Ukraine in the name of Bogdan Kalyussky. The possession of two passports issued in different names made it possible for law enforcers to assume that Kalyussky-Baidak illegally crossed borders with forged documents.

Opposition treats Yerevan action as rehearsal of mass protests
