Case on violence against demonstrators in Yerevan closed

Investigators have closed the case on the use of violence by law enforcers against activists and journalists in the Sary Tag District of Yerevan. According to the investigators, there are no defendants in the case.

In Sunzha, activists protest against Chechnya's territorial claims

In Ingushetia, activists and residents of the Sunzha District came to the building of the district administration after the news about the resignation of district head Issa Khashagulgov. They have demanded from officials to explain if it is actually planned to hand a part of the Ingush territory over to Chechnya.

Participants of wedding party cortege continue practice of public apology in Chechnya

In Grozny, policemen sent to an impoundment lot the cars of young people who were fighting for a place in the wedding party cortege and shooting in the air. On September 24, participants of the incident also apologized on the air of the Chechen TV Channel. The incident became the second one within eight days after the public apologies voiced by participants in a similar incident which took place in Shali.

Head of Ingush district bordering with Chechnya resigns

Issa Khashagulgov has announced his decision to voluntarily leave the post of the head of the Sunzha District. Ismail Nalgiev, the leader of the NGO "Choice of Ingushetia", believes that Issa Khashagulgov protested by his resignation against the plans to hand over a part of the district over to Chechnya.

Authorities of Dagestan do not react to Gasanguseinov parents' action

The father and mother of the Gasanguseinov brothers killed in the Dagestani village of Goor-Khindakh held a five-hour picket in Makhachkala, but did not succeed in meeting the leader of Dagestan. The parents of the killed brothers say they will hold daily pickets until the leader of the republic accepts them.

Azerbaijani activist placed into dungeon for reading a book, his mother says

In Azerbaijan, imprisoned activist Giyas Ibragimov has complained of being placed into a dungeon (punishment cell) because of reading a book after the beginning of the night's sleep regime time.
