Police release those disagreeing with parliamentary elections outcomes in Baku

The police have set free all those detained at the building of the Central Election Commission (CEC) during their protest against election falsifications. About 10 activists sought medical help.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 11, candidates for MPs and voters who supported them came out for an action in front of the Azerbaijani CEC. Policemen dispersed the protesters by using force.

The CEC announced the victory of ruling "Eni Azerbaijan" Party at the February 9 parliamentary elections. As stated by the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) of Azerbaijan, the elections passed in an atmosphere of "mass falsifications and flagrant lawlessness." During the voting, ballot box stuffing, observers' non-admission to polling station and other violations were recorded, NGOs have noted.

Around the midnight, all the detainees were released, the journalist, Khadija Ismayilova, has reported. "Arzulla Buludlu, an activist of the 'Musavat' Party activist suffered the most. He felt bad in the bus, but policemen wouldn't call doctors ... Buludlu was hospitalized. Doctors first said that his ribs were broken, but then stated that he needed no medical help," Ms Ismayilova has added.

Mustafa Gadjibeili, the head of the press service of the "Musavat" Party, the editor of the "Basta" website was among the victims. "I was put into a police car; and there three men punched me in the face. My whole face was in blood ... But I'll continue struggling," Mr Gadjibeili has stated.
