Second festival of documentary films about Chechnya to be held in Estonia

A festival of documentary films about Chechnya will be held in Tallinn on April 21. An exhibition of pictures by the widow of Chechen separatist leader Djokhar Dudayev, Alla, is to open that day as well.

The chairman of the festival's organizational committee, Andres Valme, told journalist on April 11 it would be already the second demonstration of the documentaries for the last month.

Among the organizers are the Sakharov Foundation (Russia), the Foundation for Civil Liberties, the Estonian War Memorial, and the Estonian Islamic Foundation.

Films shot by French, British, Russian, and Polish journalists are in the program. They concern the theme of the Chechen war and the investigation of terrorist acts in Moscow, Mr Valme said. Earlier these films were shown in Japan, the United States, Great Britain, and in Russia.

The round table discussion "Intercontinental and Ethnic Conflicts in the Context of Globalization" will follow the demonstration. Representatives of Estonian Moslems, the Chechen Diaspora in Estonia, and the clergy are expected to be its participants.
