Krasnodar Territory opens a cemetery of German soldiers

Today, the Apsheron District, Krasnodar Territory, held an official opening ceremony of a cemetery where German soldiers are buried. Their relatives took part in the ceremony.

A 300-strong delegation cane from Germany: militaries, diplomats and members of the People's Union of Germany headed by President Fuhrer Reinhardt. The guests have laid a wreath to the Eternal Flame of Heroes - Soviet soldiers.

This is the first cemetery of German soldiers in Krasnodar Territory, it was started in 2005. As of today, about five thousand persons are buried there; their bodies were found in Kuban (Krasnodar Territiry), in the Stavropol Territory and North Ossetia, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The South Federal District of Russia has another cemetery of German soldiers - in the Volgograd Region, where remains of more than 50,000 persons are already buried. Recently, the region has started to experience a shortage of places for burial of remains, therefore the authorities made a decision to create another cemetery in Kuban.

According to the administration of the Apsheron District, the cemetery topic has always given birth to debates. "Now, we have decided to open it officially, so that relatives of perished German the soldier could come to their graves," the "Interfax" was told.

On August 31, a joint youth summer camp was opened in the Apsheron District, where German and Russian young men and girls take care after the soldiers' tombs. A joint German-Russian commemoration dinner was held in the German cemetery, now opened officially, the ITAR-TASS reports.
