Kabardino-Balkaria: another BEBP member beaten

Today, about two o'clock in the afternoon, at an entrance of the house, where the office of the Board of Elders of the Balkar People (BEBP) is located, an attack was made on Dalkhat Baidaev, a member of the Board, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The attack was made at the moment, when Dalkhat Baidaev drove up to the house and was about to open the door, by two culprits. They beat their victim such heavily that he was in need of first aid ambulance.

"If not for two guys who happened to be nearby at that moment, probably, Dalkhat Baidaev could have suffered even more," said Tamara Gerieva, secretary of the Board of Elders. "They interfered and saved him."

"Before leaving for the office, Dalkhat Baidaev made a telephone call and said that he would come at two o'clock. The fact that the bandits had been waiting for him indicates that the office telephone was tapped, and the information was transferred to criminals," Ruslan Babaev, Deputy Chairman of the BEBP, is confident.

We remind you that it is not the first attack on the members of the Board of Elders of the Balkar People.

Earlier, the leader of the Board Oyus Gurtuev was beaten twice. Now, he is still in hospital after the second attack.

On October 11, a rally of the elders of the Balkar people was held in the street, near the Drama Theatre in Nalchik, convoked by the Board of Elders of the Balkar People. The rally should have been held as a congress inside the Balkar Drama Theatre, however, in due time the doors of the Theatre remained locked.

The area around the Theatre was cordoned by militiamen; later OMON (Special Militia) fighters appeared. However, the law enforcers behaved correctly, did not interfere into the event and did not try to disperse the rally.
