Pro-European actions near the Parliament of Georgia have been ongoing for 614 consecutive days.

Protesters on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi mocked the police's efforts to combat posters about Bidzina Ivanishvili on the 614th day of protests. In Kutaisi, activists honored the memory of the victims of the tragedy in Shovi.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 2, on the 613th day of protests, those gathered near the Parliament of Georgia called for a change in the pro-Russian course of the ruling party and demanded the release of all those convicted in connection with participation in the protests.

Opponents of the "Georgian Dream" gathered this evening near the Parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue for the 614th consecutive day, demanding the release of political prisoners, the repeal of repressive laws, free elections, and a return to a Euro-Atlantic course, reports Publika.

Some of the demonstrators' posters again referenced the persecution of activists over the question of Bidzina Ivanishvili and the censorship of letters from a message addressed to him: "On the letter X, what did you think?", "Bidzina for Prime Minister" and "Don't judge the Georgian alphabet".

Additionally, the protesters had posters saying "Victory in the People", "More Freedom, Less Government", "Don't Stop the Fight" and "What does peace really mean to you?", according to photos by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se), published on Facebook*.

At least 100 people participated in the action under national flags and EU flags, according to a video recording on Georgy Mumladze's page.

In Kutaisi, where a pro-European action also took place for the 614th time, demonstrators honored the memory of the victims of the tragedy in Shovi, reports the Info Imereti page. At least 15 people participated in the gathering there.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 3, 2023, a landslide occurred at the Shovi resort in Georgia. By September 10, 2023, the bodies of 32 victims had been found, after which no further information about the deceased was reported. In February, it became known that the Georgian authorities do not plan to restore the resort, citing that infrastructure cannot be developed in the disaster-affected area of the river valley.

The director of the seismic monitoring center, Tea Godoladze, commenting on the tragedy, stated that the large number of victims was related to the lack of an early warning system. According to her, with this system, information about the landslide would have arrived two hours earlier, and all the victims could have been saved. In January 2025, it became known that Godoladze was forced to leave the country.

Since November 28, 2024, participants in the protests in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners. Law enforcement has conducted harsh crackdowns on protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters. During the protests, thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution.
