Five people have been arrested in Dagestan for oil theft.

The Supreme Court of Dagestan sent members of an organized crime group to pre-trial detention for illegally extracting oil from wells in the Nogai district and selling it on the black market.

Five members of the organized crime group have been arrested in Dagestan for oil theft.

According to the press service of the Supreme Court of Dagestan, in 2025, a resident of the republic created a group with the aim of stealing oil; they illegally pumped it directly from wells located in the Nogai district and then sold it on the black market, reported on July 3 by RIA "Dagestan".

It is also noted that the defendants in the case attempted to bribe officials to prevent their business from being shut down.

Criminal cases have been initiated against the group members under articles for theft committed by an organized group on a particularly large scale and for giving a large bribe. They have been sent to pre-trial detention.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in early January, a resident of Kizlyar was sentenced to six years in prison for oil theft through illegal taps into pipelines and for bribing officials to ensure unhindered access to the infrastructure.

It is also worth noting that Dagestan, like other regions of Russia, is experiencing a fuel crisis. The Ministry of Energy of Dagestan reported on June 24 about efforts to "stabilize the fuel market", reminding residents that all fuel is purchased outside the region; however, their report raised skepticism among the residents of the republic. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan initiated inspections of gas stations in the region due to a lack of fuel.
