Armenia's Prosecutor General's Office has requested that Tsarukyan's parliamentary immunity be revoked.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has submitted a petition to the Central Electoral Commission to strip Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, of parliamentary immunity.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during the May election campaign that the Ararat Cement plant, owned by the family of Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the opposition Prosperous Armenia party, would be nationalized. Subsequently, the Prosecutor's Office reported a case related to violations during the privatization of the enterprise. Before the elections, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit demanding the cancellation of the privatization of the Ararat Cement enterprise. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia submitted a petition to the Central Electoral Commission to strip Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, of parliamentary immunity. The CEC confirmed receipt of the petition, Armenia Today reports.

The Prosecutor's Office did not specify which case, News.Am reports.

Today it was also announced that the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia completed its investigation and yesterday submitted to court the criminal case against former Kotayk Province Governor Karapet Guloyan, Gagik Tsarukyan's son-in-law, according to Novosti Armenia.

Guloyan had previously been publicly prosecuted for illegally handling seized property. According to investigators, despite the court's seizure, Guloyan organized extensive damage to a house that was subject to possible confiscation by the state. As a result of these actions, the state suffered damages in the amount of at least 229 million drams (more than $620 thousand).

On May 12, 2026, the court ordered the confiscation in favor of the state of approximately 91% of the real estate in the village of Arinj, recognized as property of illegal origin of Guloyan and his wife Roza Tsarukyan. On June 10, 2026, the court chose a preventive measure against Guloyan in the form of house arrest for a period of one month, as well as bail in the amount of 20 million drams. The prosecutor's office intends to file a property claim.
