The head of a district in Kalmykia is suspected of accepting bribes.

A criminal case has been opened against the head of the Yashaltinsky District of Kalmykia, who is suspected of accepting large-scale bribes.

According to investigators, in September 2025, the head of the Yashaltinsky District demanded a bribe of one million rubles from a local individual entrepreneur for a construction permit.

The entrepreneur was forced to transfer the demanded amount through an intermediary. Between September 2025 and March 2026, the head of the district again demanded 500,000 rubles from the same entrepreneur for the lease of three land plots by auctioning them and winning the auction. The businessman managed to transfer 250,000 rubles to him through an intermediary, TASS reported on April 3.

The suspect has been detained, and a decision is being made on whether to impose a preventive measure against him.
