Two soldiers from the Astrakhan region were killed in a military operation.

The Volodarsky district administration has named two soldiers killed in the military operation.

Pavel Nikeshin is from the village of Tishkovo. In 2023, Pavel Nikeshin decided to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and went to the special military operation zone. In June 2024, he was seriously wounded, but returned to the front line after lengthy treatment. He was killed on October 26, 2025, the district administration reported on January 28.

Dmitry Dryanin, a contemporary of Nikeshin, hailed from the village of Novokrasnoye. He signed a contract in March 2025 and was killed on January 15, 2026, according to another message posted on the administration's Telegram channel that same day.

Thus, at least 685 soldiers from the Astrakhan region have been officially recognized as killed.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Northern Military District Statistics: Losses Are Mounting in Southern Russia."

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of fighters from other regions. Thus, only one family out of three, in which fighters died before the LPR and DPR joined Russia, received payments.
