Candidates-losers at Georgian presidential election put forward an ultimatum to the authorities

The oppositional candidates for the President of Georgia, who have lost the election on January 5, have put forward their 17 claims to the authorities in the form of an ultimatum, and appointed the deadline on February 15, threatening with mass protest actions.

The joint memorandum was signed by the candidate from the United Opposition Levan Gachechiladze, leader of the "New Right-Wingers" David Gamkrelidze and leader of the Party of the Future Georgiy Maisashvili.

The demands presented in the ultimatum include free elections, freedom of mass media and independence of the judiciary, as the former candidates have declared at a joint press conference.

The IA "News-Georgia" informs that the memorandum contains 17 points; each of them puts forward particular demands.

The opposition has left among the main demands the issue of vote recalculation after the early presidential election on January 5 in the presence of NGO representatives, and to demonstrate the video records of the voting in a number of polling stations at the choice of the opposition.

Besides, the opposition demands the parity-based membership of the supervisory board of the Georgian Public TV and the parity-based membership of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).

"We demand resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and General Public Prosecutor. We demand reorganization of separate MIA's subdivisions, in particular, the Department of Constitutional Safety, Special Operations Department and Punishment Enforcement Department. It is necessary to launch a monitoring system over power agencies," Kakha Kukava, a member of the Conservative Party of Georgia, said as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".
