Alan Gatsoev received housing and work in South Ossetia
Ethnic Ossetian Alan Gatsoev, who spent several months in the no-man's land between Georgia and Russia, received permission to enter South Ossetia. There, authorities provided him with housing and found him a job.
As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," in early December it became known that Alan Gatsoyev, who spent more than five months in the neutral zone between Georgia and Russia, was hospitalized in Vladikavkaz due to heart problems. His relatives asked the South Ossetian authorities to allow him entry . Gatsoyev's best option would be to obtain South Ossetian citizenship, but activists also needed to challenge the decision to deport him from Russia, according to previous reports.
Ethnic Ossetian Alan Gatsoev is a citizen of Tajikistan. He was denied entry to Russia, where his entire family is located in Vladikavkaz, and has been living in his car in the neutral zone near Verkhniy Lars since the summer. The North Ossetian Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that Gatsoev was denied entry due to immigration violations. On November 26, an ambulance took Gatsoev to the hospital due to his worsening condition due to diabetes.
Alan Gatsoev is already in South Ossetia, according to his relative, Svetlana Gatsoeva . She noted that permission to leave was obtained thanks to the intervention of South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev .
Now Alan is finishing his treatment and getting settled in.
"He was allowed to leave, and he went to South Ossetia. He was met there and accommodated. He was received by the President of South Ossetia. Alan is currently finishing his treatment and settling in. We'll see what happens next," Svetlana Gatsoeva told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
On December 12, the press service of the South Ossetian president reported that Alan Gagloev had met with Alan Gatsoev, who "was able to come to South Ossetia, where he plans to settle." "I'm glad you arrived in good health. I know the last six months have been difficult for you, with health issues. Now, in your homeland, I think everything will be fine for you. We've already found a job and accommodation for you," Gagloev's words to Gatsoev were quoted in a post on the president's website.
North Ossetian activist Indira Gabolaeva , who attended the meeting between Gatsoev and Gagloev, reported that the South Ossetian president instructed the Ministry of Health to keep Gatsoev under surveillance.
Now his health is normal, he does not need hospitalization.
"If he needs medical observation or treatment, he will receive it. He was treated in two hospitals in North Ossetia. Now his health is normal and he no longer requires hospitalization," Indira Gabolaeva told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
She noted that, at the direction of the President of South Ossetia, Gatsoev was provided with housing and a job. "He's a skilled specialist in vehicle chassis repair, a motor mechanic. The main issue was resolved—the humanitarian one—so that the man wouldn't freeze on the road between Georgia and Russia," Gabolaeva stated.
According to her, Gatsoev will resolve the entry ban issue with the assistance of lawyers. "He will live there for now and will work on lifting the entry ban into the Russian Federation. After all, he has family here; his wife is a Russian citizen," Gabolaeva said.
I dreamed of going to South Ossetia
Alan Gatsoev himself gave only a brief comment to a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "I dreamed of visiting South Ossetia. Thanks to the President of South Ossetia, my dream came true. I was given a warm welcome. I feel good," he said.
Gatsoev added that the hardest thing was the separation from his family. "I spent five months at the border. Those were gray days separating me from my family," he emphasized.
