Armenia demands disclosing student's murder in Moscow

The authorities of Armenia demand an immediate investigation into the murder of Armenian student Vladimir Karamdzhan, who was attacked by a mob of unidentified teenagers in Moscow and later died from received knife wounds, Radio Liberty reports.

We remind you that Vladimir Karamdzhan, 20, a student from Armenia, was attacked by unknown persons in the north of Moscow, in the vicinity of Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street.

The new murder of an Armenian accomplished in the Russian capital has caused a live discussion in Internet blogs.

"In Turkey, one person - Hrant Dink - was killed (journalist of Armenian origin, - note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and 300,000 Turks went out to the streets of Istanbul with protest slogans. Up to 50 Armenians are killed in Russia every year, and - silence... Turkey is Armenia's enemy. Russia is Armenia's friend. Am I not mistaken?" a user named viraboff writes in one of the blogs.

"Kremlin seems to think that nationalism is a nice way to consolidate the nation," user named kornelij gives his comment in Live Journal.

Others are inclined to believe that the growth of xenophobic moods among Russian youngsters is in much promoted by poor professionalism of the media, who report about this sort of crimes and just 'add oil to the flame' when emphasize different nationalities if the killer and victim, whereas the murder motive has not so often to do with this factor.

"The Armenian, certainly, deserves pity, but why if a mob of teenagers attack a member of national minority in our country, practically all the media start reporting, but the facts that every day teenagers attack Russian pensioners, middle-aged Russian people and their Russian peers - is of no interest to them. It's same terribly and bad!" user named tersky wrote in his blog in Live Journal.
