Kuban woman achieves compensation for beating by law enforcer

The Kurganinsky District Court of the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the main river) has awarded Natalia Krisko, a resident of the village of Temirgoevskaya, compensation in the amount of 60,000 roubles, partially satisfying her claim against the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in which she complained about being beaten by a policeman.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 14, 2021, Kuban residents, Natalia Krisko and her son Igor Skorotyaga, stated that law enforcers used physical force against them in front of the child after making a comment about a car parked on the sidewalk. They refused to initiate a criminal case against the law enforcers involved, although the incident was video recorded.

As a result, the court has partially satisfied Krisko's claim, since she demanded 250,000 roubles as compensation, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

The court's ruling to compensate the suffered party was unexpected, a lawyer from the "Team against Torture" (TaT)**, has noted. "This is a very rare case when we can recover at least some compensation for policemen's actions," the Telegram channel "NeMoskva Speaking" has the lawyer as saying.

**The "Team against Torture" (TaT, formerly the "Committee against Torture" – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
