The former Kuban judge is suspected of bribery and rendering an unjust decision.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia sent a request to the Supreme Qualification Collegium of Judges for consent to initiate a criminal case against former judge of the Starominsky District Court of Krasnodar Krai Alexander Dovbnya.

The former judge is suspected of receiving bribes and rendering a knowingly unjust decision.

According to the investigation, in November 2024, while temporarily acting as the chairman of the court, he received 100,000 rubles from a lawyer to render a decision on a claim by a local resident, which obliged local authorities to conclude a purchase and sale agreement for a land plot with him. The corresponding decision was prepared and announced by the judge, however, the higher instance canceled it as illegal, informs "Kommersant" on October 13.

Moreover, the investigation claims that in March 2025, the judge received a bribe from a foreign citizen through the same lawyer to expedite the receipt of a residence permit in Russia.

The investigation against the judge is being conducted on the grounds of crimes under part 4 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe), part 1 of article 305 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rendering a knowingly unjust decision), and part 1 of article 291.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (petty bribery).

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that the Supreme Qualification Collegium of Judges allowed investigators to initiate a criminal case against judge Sergey Bogdanovich of the Lazarevsky District Court of Sochi.
