Beslan victims were paid tribute to in Moscow and St-Petersburg

Mourning meetings in memory of the victims of Beslan (North Ossetia) terror act took place today in Moscow and St-Petersburg.

The "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports that the participants of today's action in Moscow on the three-year anniversary of the act of terror in North Ossetia have adopted two resolutions. One of them supports the "Voice of Beslan" organization, which is exposed to prosecutions in Vladikavkaz. The other one demands to stop mockeries and cynicism of investigatory bodies and special agencies in relation to the victims.

All the participants of the meeting were given copies of the brochure "The Truth of Beslan" - a summary of the alternative report prepared by Deputy Yuri Saveliev, a member of the parliamentary commission created for investigating the act of terror. Apart from Mr Saveliev, the visitors to the Bolotnaya Square in Moscow, where the meeting was held, were the leader of the Union of Right-Wing Forces Nikita Belykh, leader of the United Civil Front Harry Kasparov and chair of the Moscow Helsinki Group Liudmila Alekseeva. About 300 persons took part in the meeting.

The IA "Interfax" reports that a mourning meeting in memory of the victims of Beslan act of terror was held also in the centre of St-Petersburg with more than one hundred participants.

For reference: On September 1, 2004, a group of terrorists seized 1128 hostages in a school of North-Ossetian city of Beslan. During the storm of the school building 12 fighters of special agencies and one local resident who helped to liberate the hostages were killed.
