Death toll among natives of Southern Russia in Ukraine exceeds 100

Since the beginning of the fighting in Ukraine, it was reported about at least 102 killed residents of Southern Russia. These data are obtained due to the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” and based on the confirmed information. The death toll includes 66 natives of Northern Caucasus and 36 residents of the Southern Federal District. The most of the killed were natives of Dagestan: it was reported about at least 25 killed natives of the republic.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that for the first time, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) recognized casualties in Ukraine only on February 27, without disclosing the number of dead. On March 2, the Russian MoD reported about 498 Russian militaries killed in the special military operation and other 1597 injured. Since March 2, the MoD of Russia has not voiced any information on the death toll.

Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, the authorities of the regions and districts have reported about at least 25 natives of Dagestan, six soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria, eight from Ingushetia, 15 from North Ossetia, four residents of Karachay-Cherkessia, and six natives of Stavropol killed in Ukraine. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov also reported about two killed natives of the republic. Thus, since the beginning of the special military operation, it has been officially confirmed that at least 66 residents of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) were killed in Ukraine.

At least 36 people have been killed in the Southern Federal District (SFD) since the beginning of the fighting, which was reported by the authorities of the regions and districts. Thus, at least four soldiers were killed in the Astrakhan Region, at least 13 in the Volgograd Region, at least four in Kalmykia, at least 12 in Kuban, and at least three in the Rostov Region. By 4:00 p.m. Moscow time, the authorities of Adygea have not reported about casualties among compatriots in Ukraine.

Thus, by 4:00 p.m. Moscow time, the information about at least 102 killed natives of Southern Russia has been officially confirmed.
