Russian MoD reveals death toll in special operation in Ukraine

A total of 498 Russian military servicemen perished and 1597 were wounded, Igor Konashenkov, the spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD), stated on March 2.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, the Russian MoD acknowledged losses in Ukraine without specifying the death toll.

During the special military operation in Ukraine, 498 Russian militaries have perished, Mr Konashenkov said at a briefing. "There are losses among our comrades participating in the special military operation – a total of 498 Russian servicemen perished in the line of military duty," he has stated. According to his story, 1597 servicemen were wounded. He treated the information about "incalculable" losses of the Russian Army as misinformation, as follows from the video of the briefing posted on the YouTube channel of the Russian MoD.

Since the start of the special operation, Ukraine lost 2870 servicemen; and about 3000 have been wounded; the number of captured Ukrainian militaries and law enforcers makes 572 persons, Igor Konashenkov has added.
