Dagestan: picketers demand to stop criminal prosecution of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev

Idris Yusupov, a journalist, and Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) portal, have held solo pickets in Makhachkala. They demanded the release of Abdulmumin Gadjiev and an end to arrests without proofs. Passers-by and motorists expressed their support for the picketers, Yusupov has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that such pickets are regularly held in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a "Chernovik" journalist. On December 6, the picketers called for liberation of Gadjiev and all the political prisoners, as well as to stop arresting people without proofs.

According to investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charity Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, raised money for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.

As reported by Idris Yusupov, the first picket with the demand to release Gadjiev was held by Magdi Kamalov. The second picket demanding to stop arrests without proofs was held by Yusupov himself.

The "Chernovik" continues posting old articles written by Gadjiev, but there are no his new materials written for the portal, said Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik". Nevertheless, Gadjiev's publications written for social networks appear on the portal's website, he has added.
