Makhachkala: picketers support Abdulmumin Gadjiev

The picketers have demanded to release the journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, and all political prisoners, as well as to stop arresting people without proofs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that solo pickets are regularly held in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) portal. On November 29, the picketers demanded to release Gadjiev and all political prisoners.

According to investigators, Gadjiev, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charitable fund, and Kemal Tambiev had raised 68 million roubles and USD 200,000 for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims. Investigators link these persons with the Dagestani preacher and founder of the Islamic foundation "Mukhajirun", known as Abu Umar Sasitlinsky.

Three solo pickets were held in Makhachkala at the intersection of Dakhadaev Street and Gamzatov Avenue. Idris Yusupov, a journalist, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the first picket demanding to set Abdulmumin Gadjiev free was held by Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik". The second solo picket demanding to stop arrests without proofs was held by a resident of Makhachkala, who came to the venue of weekly actions to support the picketers. The third picket demanding to free all the political prisoners was held by the journalist, Idris Yusupov, himself.

Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that there were no law enforcers' obstacles during the pickets. He said that law enforcers wrote down the personal data of each picketer, and also took Kamalov's written explanations about the reason and purpose of his solo picket.
