Vice-Premier of Chechnya announces teachers' firing for extortions at school

The principal and two teachers of a school in Argun have been dismissed for extortions from pupils' parents, Vakhit Usmaev, the Chechen Deputy Prime Minister, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early September, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, claimed inadmissibility of extortions in schools and called on parents to inform if their children are asked for money at school in the future.

The headmaster and two teachers of School No. 2 in Argun were fired after the information was checked about extortions, the Vice-Premier, Vakhit Usmaev, has stated. "According to the information received, two teachers of this school claimed money from pupils. The check found out that the information was true, and the teachers extorted money for cleaning the classroom. On the spot, I've instructed to dismiss the principal and two teachers of School No. 2 from their posts. I remind once again that such extortions are not permissible and will be strictly suppressed in accordance with the current legislation," Mr Usmaev wrote on September 13 in his Instagram page.
