Week of April 19-25 passed without victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of April 19-25, 2021, during the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, no information about the casualties or wounded persons was reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Attacks on law enforcers

On April 22, in Kizlyar (Dagestan), during a detention attempt, two unidentified persons fired at law enforcers from unidentified firearms. One of the attackers surrendered immediately; and the other ran into an apartment house at No. 26 Shevchenko Street and took refuge in one of the apartments on the fourth level. The residential neighbourhood was cordoned off, and the second attacker surrendered to the police too. Nobody was hurt during the incident. One of the detainees is Shamil Omarov, born in 1988; the second one is Zubairugadji Yusupov, born in 1969; both are residents of the Stavropol Territory.

Detentions

On April 19, the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau) reported that in 21 regions of the Russian Federation, including Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Ingushetia and the Stavropol Territory, FSB agents, with the help of those of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard), detained 55 suspects in the underground upgrading and sale of firearms. In total, law enforcers reported the liquidation of 27 clandestine workshops for the manufacture of weapons and ammunition.

In the evening on April 19, employees of the Urus-Martan ROVD (District Interior Division) brought home Nurmagomed Mamuev, a 32-year-old native of the village of Shalazhi in the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, who had been illegally kept in custody since March 26 after his deportation from Germany. Human rights defenders also learned that he had been taken by officers of the Urus-Martan ROVD, and was kept by them; but there was no official confirmation of this. Mamuev's relatives have confirmed the fact of his release and asked not to take any further actions.
