Ibragim Gadjiev estimates damage from police actions at a million roubles

Ibragim Gadjiev, a witness in a case against Ashikov brothers, filed a lawsuit to the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala. Ibragim Gadjiev requested the Court to declare unjustified the actions of law enforcers during a search in his house. The man also requested compensation for moral damage in the amount of one million roubles to be collected from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on April 1, law enforcers blocked the car with Ibragim Gadjiev inside, not allowing him to drive away from the building of the Kirov District Court in Makhachkala. They demanded from Gadjiev to follow them to a police station for questioning. Gadjiev spent the night in the car – he feared that law enforcers might take him away to some unknown place, where he would be tortured. On April 2, in the afternoon, Gadjiev got out of the car and was taken to a Makhachkala police station. Law enforcers refused to let his advocates to see him.

Ibragim Gadjiev is a former employee of the operative-and-search unit of the MIA’s Internal Security Service. He used to be a subordinate of Raip Ashikov in the security service of the Dagestani branch of the “Rosselkhozbank”.

Ibragim Gadjiev filed a lawsuit to the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala against the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia, the Russian MIA’s Department for Dagestan, the Ministry of Finance of Russia, as well as against two employees of the Russian MIA’s Department for Dagestan, the newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft) reports today.

In his claim, Ibragim Gadjiev noted that the law enforcers violated his constitutional rights to the inviolability of his home. The man believes that the police broke into his house and carried out a body search unlawfully. Ibragim Gadjiev also indicated that a pistol, cartridges, and a narcotic substance were planted on him, the “Chernovik” reports.

The former MIA’s employee requested the court to recognize the actions of the policemen as unjustified and to collect from the Russian MIA one million roubles as compensation for moral damage, the newspaper reports.
