Wife of Nazran detainee calls in question investigators' version

Adam Khashiev, one of the men detained during a special operation in Nazran, was unreasonably accused of aiding and abetting terrorists, since he is engaged in the wholesale of food and had an intention to expand his business, says a spouse of Adam Khashiev. In her address to human rights defenders, the woman called them on not to allow fabrication of criminal case against her husband.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 30, residents of Nazran reported about a special operation conducted by law enforcers in the city. On February 1, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) announced that three detainees, including Kureish Djandigov, Islam Zhandigov, and Adam Khashiev, were accused of transporting weapons and providing housing and food to members of the "Imarat Kavkaz" (a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

On February 1, Khava Tsechoeva, a resident of Karabulak, appealed to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"*, and Svetlana Gannushkina, the chair of the "Civic Assistance" Committee, with a written complaint. The woman complained about the ungrounded detention of her husband Adam Khashiev, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today by Tamerlan Akiev, the head of the Ingush branch of the HRC "Memorial"*.

Khava Tsechoeva claims that, according to a resolution received from an advocate, her husband is suspected of "aiding and abetting an armed grouping of militants led by Aslan Byutukaev."

In her complaint, Khava Tsechoeva emphasizes that relatives of Adam Khashiev consider the accusation as far-fetched. The woman asked the human rights defenders to "take control" over her husband's case and "prevent fabrication of a criminal case" against him.
