In Dagestan, 500 people are waiting for border opening with Azerbaijan

About 500 Azerbaijani citizens are waiting departure home in Dagestan. Many residents of the "Ogonyok" (Spark) camp in Dagestan have run out of money and cannot buy the necessary things, one of them has told.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 24, Garun Davydov, the first deputy minister for national policy of Dagestan, said that, according to his story, Azerbaijan would not open the border with Russia until December 4.

In Dagestan, over 500 people are waiting for the opening of the Azerbaijani border to return to their homeland, Afig Allakhverdiev, the spokesman of the Azerbaijanis' National-Cultural Autonomy in the Moscow Region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the earlier weekly dispatch of Azerbaijani citizens has not been resumed, in particular, due to the workload of the quarantine camp located in Azerbaijan.

A citizen of Azerbaijan named Naif, who had earlier contacted the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot", said that he was in the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) in the "Ogonyok" camp. According to his story, there are several hundred people in the camp, many of whom have been waiting for return home for more than a month.

Many residents of the temporary camp have run out of money and are unable to buy cigarettes and other necessary goods, Naif said.
