Orientalists exclude Kadyrov's victory in fight against Marvel heroes

Successful examples of promoting national heroes are based on copying foreign experience; and the influence of American pop culture in Chechnya will remain strong despite Ramzan Kadyrov's demand to replace Marvel heroes for "real heroes," Orientalists have suggested. It is unlikely that Kadyrov's remark will turn in Chechnya into a mass struggle against comic book characters, Ruslan Kutaev, President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, believes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kadyrov, who visited Kurchaloi on November 16, ordered to remove from the walls of the children's play centre images of American film characters and Marvel comics and replace them with "photos of our real heroes." An official of the centre has treated the replacement of American images for Kadyrov's photos as inappropriate, but in a conversation with Akhmed Dudaev, Minister of Information of Chechnya, said that he did not refuse to fulfil the order of the head of the republic.

The Western culture and its images and heroes are promoted objectively by globalist trends and not by officials' efforts, said Mikhail Roschin, an Orientalist. He pointed to the civilizational differences among generations.

The displacement of the traditional culture is taking place not only in Chechnya, but in the country as a whole, Akhmet Yarlykapov, a Caucasian expert, has noted. He mentioned domestic heroes in the animated series "Masha and the Bear" as a successful example of promoting domestic heroes. However, this success was ensured by the fact that the project authors used "Hollywood patterns."

In the Chechen society, as in the entire post-Soviet space, there is a very high demand for rethinking the history, Ruslan Kutaev believes. He thinks that Kadyrov's initiative will have no continuation as counter-propaganda.
