Mother of deceased Georgian programmer goes on hunger strike

In Tbilisi, Teona Tamazashvili claims she does not trust an investigators' version about suicide as the cause of her daughter Tamar Bachaliashvili's death. Today, Teona Tamazashvili has declared going on a hunger strike with the demand to engage experts from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation in the case of her daughter's death.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at requests voiced by relatives of 23-year-old deceased Tamar Bachaliashvili, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) expressed its willingness to join the investigation into the circumstances of the Tamar Bachaliashvili's death.

On July 23, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that during the initial examination, no traces of violence were found on the body of the 23-year-old Tamar Bachaliashvili; and that investigators were establishing the circumstances of her death. This statement was made amid protests, whose participants reproached the police for an inefficient investigation. Tamar's mother demanded a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia to find out which officials' files her daughter had access to before her death.

Today, Teona Tamazashvili, the mother of the deceased young woman, announced going on a hunger strike in front of the building of the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia. Teona Tamazashvili claims she does not trust the investigators and demands from them to cooperate with the FBI. Teona Tamazashvili expressed her dissatisfaction with the fact that the Georgian investigators had spread information about the alleged Tamazashvili's interest in methods of suicide. "I do not believe the information disseminated by the investigators <...>. They are considering the version of suicide, because [law enforcers] themselves were involved in the murder of my daughter. I demand to engage the FBI in the investigation," Teona Tamazashvili claimed on the air of the "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Company as translated from the Georgian language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
