Residents of Kullar tent camp get no explanation about return to their homeland

After a new group of residents of a tent camp near the Kullar village had been sent home, the rest claimed that the principles for the formation of groups of Azerbaijani citizens for sending them from Dagestan to the homeland were not transparent. Besides, the people noted that officials from the Azerbaijani authorities did not visit the tent camp till the eve of the departure.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 21, other 250 Azerbaijani citizens were sent home from the tent camp arranged near the village of Kullar in Dagestan. The above group has included only 15 people out of those who have been living in the tent camp for a long time, while the rest came to the tent camp the day before, the National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis reported.

Tariel, a resident of Baku, has been living at the tent camp since July 4. During this period of time, three groups of people had been sent to Azerbaijan, but the man was not included into any of them. Tariel believes that was not fair, since, according to him, even those people who had not stayed at the tent camp for several days were sent home.

"I personally witnessed how two persons who arrived yesterday have left today," Tariel said. People are not aware of the criteria by which the lists for departure are drawn up, the man complains. Tariel believes that the number of people in the groups to be sent home should be increased. "We also call guys on the other side of the border. They say there are a lot of empty places [in a camp for those transported from Russia]," Tariel said.

Meanwhile, according to the man, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan are not available to residents of the tent camp, because they are always cordoned off by a dense protecting ring of law enforcers.
