Nagorno-Karabakh registers 80 shelling attacks in conflict zone per week

Starting from January 12, the Azerbaijani troops fired about 650 shots at the positions of the Defence Army, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Nagorno-Karabakh reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 5-11, Nagorno-Karabakh registered 125 cases of the ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani side.

"In the period from January 12 to January 18, the Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire more than 80 times on the contact line of the armed forces of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh, note of the 'Caucasian Knot') and Azerbaijan," reported the Nagorno-Karabakh MoD as translated from Armenian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In turn, the Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Army "basically refrained from retaliatory actions," the Nagorno-Karabakh MoD claims.

As at 1:41 p.m. Moscow time on January 18, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan didn't post on its website a comment on the statement released by the Nagorno-Karabakh MoD. Meanwhile, according to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", during the same period, the Azerbaijani side registered 156 shelling attacks on its positions by the armed forces of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Only from the morning on January 17 to the morning on January 18, 23 shelling attacks occurred, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan reported.
