Chechen residents report disappearance of their relative in Grozny

Mairbek Amaev, a resident of Grozny, disappeared in the city centre, and there has been no information about him for the third day, his relatives report. Instagram users assumed that the man had been detained by law enforcers.

At night on December 14, Mairbek Amaev disappeared in the centre of Grozny, in the area of the former Old Market, reports the public account "ChP Chechnya" on Instagram.

The relatives of the disappeared man tried to find him at local police departments. "At the police departments, law enforcers claimed that no person with the same surname was brought to their places and that the man was not included in lists of detainees. At the local police station, policemen refused to accept our complaint about the disappearance of the man: they say such a complaint may be accepted only after three days. They say that a person can appear during those three days," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by one of the Mairbek Amaev's relatives.

Some social network users believe that the law enforcement bodies themselves are involved in the disappearance of Mairbek Amaev. "How could it be? An adult disappeared in the city of the most peaceful region, the Chechen Republic? Look for him in basements of people in uniform, there is 100% probability that he is being kept there," wrote user smile.040. "Kidnappings, torture, and intimidation still continue," commented user borz.borz.yu.
