Relatives of murdered Dagestani resident achieve trial of law enforcer

On November 7, the Nogai District Court began considering the murder case of a local resident during interrogation. The claimants had demanded the trial for five years.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Eradil Asanov, a 22-year-old resident of Terekli-Mekteba, was shot dead by a law enforcer on October 6, 2014. The inquiry into the case was repeatedly suspended. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the law enforcer was forced to use his service pistol, when the man suspected of committing a murder had attacked him with a knife. However, Asanov's relatives believe that he was shot dead, when they knocked confession out of him.

Local residents, outraged by Asanov's murder, repeatedly went out to protest rallies.

On November 7, the Nogai District Court of Dagestan held its first session on Eradil Asanov's murder case.

The case against the law enforcer had been initially initiated only under the article on abuse of authority, but was stopped. A new charge was brought against him in June this year.
