Military police battalion returns from Syria to Chechnya

About 400 military policemen, who had served in Syria for several months, are back in Chechnya without losses, the Military Commandant has announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that for the first time, a battalion of military police was sent to Syria in December 2016. The next rotation took place in December 2018.

In Syria, the battalion ensured security of the local population; was engaged in patrolling; guarded important objects and escorted various cargoes and humanitarian convoys, the Commandant has reported.

Those servicemen, distinguished at performing combat missions, received combat awards.

There are two military police battalions in Chechnya; each numbering about 500 people. During their service trips to Syria, the policemen from Chechnya ensure the safety of the civilian population.
