Demonstrative Kadyrov Fund's charity raises Islamic ethics issues

The TV reports about the charity actions of the Akhmat Kadyrov Fund are contrary to Islamic canons, which forbid any promotion by means of good deeds, Orientalists believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya reproached the authorities for their obtrusive advertising of the Kadyrov Fund, which had distributed food packages among poor people.

The TV reports about the Kadyrov Fund's action are boasting of nobility, which is unambiguously denounced in Islam, said Akhmet Yarlykapov, an Orientalist.

He has noted that the budget of the Kadyrov Fund is formed, among other sources, from voluntary-compulsory donations made by state servants. A significant part of the Fund's money often goes to pay for performances of sports and show business stars, which, according to Islamic canons, is a sin.

By making charity gifts during Islamic holidays, Ramzan Kadyrov raises his rating among believers, the expert has noted.

Advertising good deeds is not accepted in Islam, agrees Alexei Malashenko, a political analyst. According to his story, helping Muslims is a political technology, used by the head of Chechnya.

However, Ruslan Gereev, Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies of Northern Caucasus, has objected by saying that the information support for philanthropy is welcome in Islam, for other people to follow the example. However, he agrees that Kadyrov is seeking to improve his rating among Russian Muslims in order to grow in the eyes of world Islamic leaders.
