Evkurov accuses those killed in Nazran of plotting terror act

The militants killed today in Ingushetia has been plotting terror acts on the Muslim holiday of Uraza-Bayram, the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, in Nazran, two militants were killed in the course of the counterterrorist operation. There was a young woman among the killed suspects, and one of the suspected militants surrendered, sources from the law enforcement bodies report.

As a result of a counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Nazran, two young men and their mother were killed, local residents, who were eyewitnesses to the CTO, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to locals, the father of the killed alleged militants was taken out of the house by law enforcers; he is alive, but his whereabouts is unknown. Also, local residents talk about one law enforcer, who perished in the CTO.

So far, the information about the deceased law enforcer has not been officially confirmed.

Mr Evkurov said that the father of the killed militants had surrendered.

"The father came out; law enforcers offered them to surrender; negotiations were held for over an hour and a half with the participation of the head of the district and local authorities; but bandits refused to surrender and opened fire on law enforcers when they attempted to detain them."

According to his version, a group of several people, including those killed today in Nazran, had planned to commit a terror act in the region in mid-June, on the eve of the Uraza-Bayram holiday.
