Relatives report Grachya Arutyunyan’s pardoning

Grachya Arutyunyan sentenced in the case on a road accident in Russia has been pardoned by the President of Armenia and may be subjected to amnesty. This was reported by his relatives.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 18, it became known that Grachya Arutyunyan will continue serving his sentence in Armenia.

On July 13, 2013, a KAMAZ driven by Grachya Arutyunyan collided with a bus not far from Podolsk. The road accident affected 63 people. Of them, 18 were killed. On August 4, 2014, the court in Moscow sentenced Grachya Arutyunyan to 6 years and 9 months of imprisonment in a penal colony. Grachya Arutyunyan admitted his guilt in a part. In December 2014, relatives of the sentenced man appealed to the Armenian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) with a request to facilitate his extradition from Moscow to Yerevan.

Grachya Arutyunyan may be amnestied in December, reported Victor Martirosyan, the father of his wife.

Earlier, family members of Grachya Arutyunyan have addressed Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan with a request to pardon the sentenced man.
