KUBANA producer asks Governor Kondratiev to return festival to Kuban

Ilya Ostrovsky, the producer of the KUBANA music festival, has released an open letter to Veniamin Kondratiev, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory. In his letter, the producer has noted that for several years, in vain he has been trying to return the music festival to Kuban.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the Krasnodar Territory, the KUBANA music festival was held annually in the period from 2009 to 2014. In July 2014, organizers announced it was for the last time when the Krasnodar Territory accepted the event.

In February, it was announced that the Kaliningrad Region would become a new venue for the KUBANA music festival. However, later the organizing committee announced that the music festival would be held in Riga. It became known that deputies of the town of Yantarny in the Kaliningrad Region refused to host the festival.

In his letter, Ilya Ostrovsky notes that he has failed to achieve neither agreement nor a justified refusal from the authorities to hold the festival. The producer has suggested holding an open discussion involving officials, law enforcers, journalists, public figures, and actors.

The producer has called the festival "truly of patriotic nature." According to him, the event favourably influenced the image of the Krasnodar Territory, improved the investment climate in the region and encouraged event tourism.

According to Galina Zhukova, the press secretary of the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, the Kuban authorities are ready for a dialogue with organizers of the music festival, but at present, it is at least too early to talk about holding it in the Krasnodar Territory, the TASS reports.
