Mokok residents: authorities ignore problems of fire victims

According to local residents, the people from the village of Mokok, affected by fire of August 21, 2016, have no hope for compensation for loss of property. An initiative group is created to communicate with the authorities on the problems of the fire victims.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that as a result of the fire in the village of Mokok, 480 people, including 190 children, were deprived of their housing.

On January 7, the Mokok villagers declared their readiness to go on hunger strike to draw the authorities' attention to their situation.

"Five months have already passed. However, nothing has been resolved. Lists of fire victims are constantly changed on orders from the above," said Magomed Saidov, a Mokok villager.

According to Magomed Saidov, more than half of the Mokok villagers, mostly children, were not included in the database of the local Department of the Federal Migration Service (FMS).
