KBR resident complains about torture after detention
A local resident Murat Attoev, arrested on suspicion of aiding militants, has stated a violation of his rights by law enforcers of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). The Attoev's case has signs of falsification, said Valery Khatazhukov, the head of the KBR's Human Rights Centre.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to the advocate Elena Bairamkulov, that on November 22, Murat Attoev was detained in Dolinskoe, the resort area of the KBR.
Murat Attoev states in his complaint that when detaining "he was exposed physical violence and verbal abuse."
Also, according to his story, during the search, drugs were planted on him. After that, he "was tortured with electric current for at least three hours, demanding to show the place where members of an illegal armed formation (IAF) had buried weapons."
Attoev also claims that he "suffers from serious diseases" and that he "could not stand torture, and confessed of the crimes he never committed." According to Attoev, on the following day, he "was taken to the area of the village of Khasanya, where he was to show the hideout of the IAF members," and he "made a visibility of detecting a hideout."
The detainee has stressed that he "had never helped anyone," and he "does not know the persons, of links with whom he is accused."
The advocate has added that Attoev is 22 years old, and he had never been prosecuted earlier.
