Sochi Prosecutor returns case against Donchi-ool pensioners to police

The Prosecutor of the Central District of Sochi has refused to sign the indictment in the case of illegal felling of trees in Sochi, which involves spouses Valentin and Klara Donchi-ool as suspects. The Prosecutor has made the decision to return the case to the police for further investigation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the Donchi-ool pensioners, they were standing for the preservation of green trees. However, when they had filed a complaint about illegal felling of trees, they suddenly became involved in the offense as suspects. Experts have revealed that the trees, which, according to investigators, were cut down by the spouses in this February, had been actually destroyed more than three years ago.

Anatoly Eroshenko, an advocate of the Donchi-ool spouses, has noted that prosecutor Alexei Kazachek met Klara Donchi-ool and asked her "if she visited Andrei Terekhov, the chief of aesthetic forestry administration after the criminal case had been opened."

"The prosecutor asked the woman if she requested Andrei Terekhov to backdate in the list of tree felling the information, allowing felling a palm and laurel trees. Klara Donchi-ool denied the information," stated the advocate.

The woman herself has noted that she had "never asked Andrei Terekhov to falsify any records."
