Opposition reports on detentions in Zagatala District of Azerbaijan
In the Zagatala District in north-western part of Azerbaijan, two residents of the village of Yukhary Tala were subjected to administrative arrest. According to members of the opposition, the villagers were brought to administrative responsibility in connection with the protest action, planned in the town of Zagatala. Officials from the district police station deny detentions of citizens in connection with the protest action.
"This week, social networks on the Internet were discussing the topic of protest action in Zagatala against growth of prices and deterioration of financial situation of people," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by one of the opposition activists living in the town of Zagatala.
According to a member of the opposition, local branches of political parties are not involved in organization of the protest action.
"Citizens themselves have put forward such an initiative. We have managed to identify two detainees. They are Sabukhi Makhmud oglu Nusalov and Vagif Kakhov oglu Guseinov, residents of the village of Yukhary Tala. On January 29, the Zagatala District Court sentenced them to 25 days of administrative arrest on the charge of disturbing public order. According to unofficial information, seven or eight persons were detained. Meanwhile, we have not yet succeeded in their identification," said the opposition activist.
