SC leaves life sentences to convicts for attack on Nalchik unchanged
The Judicial Chamber on Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation has refused to abolish life sentences to five persons, convicted in the case of the attack on Nalchik, while reducing the sentences to some other figurants in the case.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that appeal complaints against the verdicts passed on the case were filed by 49 out of 56 convicts. Most of them claim to have been fraudulently involved in the events. All the convicts asked the Court of Appeal to reconsider their sentences.
After consideration of the appeals, five life sentences were left unchanged. Other imprisonment terms were abridged by the periods from 20 days to one year, the "Interfax" reports.
The Judicial Chamber upheld the life imprisonment for Eduard Mironov, Anzor Mashukov, Murat Bapinaev, Aslan Kuchmenov and Rasul Kudayev, the RAPSI writes.
