No Russians among victim of Istanbul terror act

The Russian Embassy in Turkey has no information about Russian citizens injured in the explosion in Istanbul.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Igor Mityakov, the press attaché of the Russian Embassy, that they have no information on casualties among Russian tourists.

According to the Russian Embassy in Turkey, "no complaints have also been filed by Russian citizens, looking for their relatives."

As a result of the explosion, which has occurred this morning in Sultanahmet Square in the centre of Istanbul, ten people are killed and 15 others are injured, the newspaper "Hurriyet" reports with reference to the Office of the Governor of Istanbul. The authorities investigate the circumstances of the explosion. According to the "TRT" TV Channel, the attack is likely to have been committed by a suicide bomber.

The area of Sultanahmet Square is famous for a number of tourist attractions, including the Hagia Sophia Mosque, the Blue Mosque, and the Hippodrome, the "Interfax" reports.

The Turkish authorities have declared that the attack is very likely organized by the grouping "Islamic State" (IS), the "Reuters" reports.

It should be noted that on January 6, 2015, in Istanbul, a terror act was committed by a female suicide bomber. The explosion then killed a policeman. The female suicide bomber was identified as Diana Ramazanova, a native of Dagestan.
