Evgeny Vitishko released from colony

The documents needed to release the Krasnodar ecologist Evgeny Vitishko from his colony in the Tambov Region arrived today. The released Vitishko was met by activists of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch).

Evgeny Vitishko, an activist of the "Ecological Watch on for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), was sentenced for damaging in 2011 the fence around the territory, known as the "dacha" of Alexander Tkachov, who was then the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory. In December 2013, the Court replaced the Evgeny Vitishko's conditional sentence with the real imprisonment term, and the ecologist was transferred to the Tambov Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 10 the Kirsanov District Court of the Tambov Region decided to replace the unserved part of Vitishko's term by restriction of his freedom. The prosecutor's office challenged the judgement, but today the Tambov Regional Court left it unchanged. The rest of his term will be served by the ecologist in the Tuapse District of the Krasnodar Territory.

The decision of the Tambov Regional Court was delivered to the colony-settlement in several hours, Sergey Loktev, a Vitishko's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"As soon as the decision was received by the colony bosses, the administration drew up an itinerary for Evgeny Vitishko and release him," said the advocate, noting that he did not expect such a fast arrival of the documents in the colony.

Activists of the "EcoWatch" were waiting for Evgeny Vitishko at the colony gate and met him at the exit, Andrei Rudomakha, the coordinator of the "EcoWatch", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
