Galina Arapova to file appeal in case against MRDC
The Media Rights Defence Centre (MRDC) intends to challenge the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Voronezh, which dismissed the appeal against the inclusion of the organization in the register of "foreign agents". This was announced by Galina Arapova, Director of the MRDC. She has noted that the MRDC appeal to all the courts in the Russian Federation and to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the MRDC also challenged the act of inspection, which found out that the organization was engaged in political activities, and the resolution of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for the inclusion of the MRDC in the register of "foreign agents." On November 30, the Court dismissed the complaint.
Members of the MRDC treat the Court's decision as "illegal and unmotivated" and believe that the conclusions of the examination in the case are not based on the actual circumstances.
According to the act of the inspection held by the MoJ's Department for the Voronezh Region, dated February 18, 2015, in 2012-2014, the activities of the MRDC were mainly financed by donations from foreign and international organizations.
The inspection was caused by the publications of the NGO and the comments of Galina Arapova, in which she explained the changes in the current laws on the mass media and information.
According to the document, Galina Arapova "forms public opinion in order to influence the decisions made by the authorities and their policies."
