Chechen authorities order policemen to read prayers
The Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has obliged every employee to read 300,000 short prayers "Salavat" before this year's birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
The corresponding telephone message, signed by Ruslan Alkhanov, the head of the MIA, was received by heads of all subdivisions. The order to policemen to read short prayers was given by the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
"Information on the number of read prayer by heads and staff of subordinate bodies and units shall be reported with the accrual total to the MIA's headquarters on a weekly basis," says the document.
In the period from November 20 to December 25-27, before the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, the number of read prayers per employee should reach 300,000, says the above telephone message. The prayers read by their families shall also be included into this total, the RBC reports.
