Armenian political analysts state opposition's absence of resources to change power

The opposition has no resources to launch any large-scale street protests able to affect the political situation in the country. Besides, the oppositional parties lack a clear political programme, the Armenian political scientists, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", believe.

At the background of protests, Armenia is getting ready for the referendum on the draft amendments to the Constitution, which is scheduled for December 6, 2015.

The opposition lacks any well-designed programme; and it cannot bring people to street, Alexander Iskandaryan, a political analyst and Director of the Caucasus Institute, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In order to achieve political change, the opposition must bring hundreds of thousands of people into streets, but none of the existing political groups has preconditions for organizing this sort of large-scale actions.

In the opinion of Manvel Sarkisyan, the Director of the Armenian Centre for National and Strategic Studies, Armenia's fundamental problem is the lack of mechanisms of free elections.

According to the analyst, the opposition sees the change of power as the only solution of all the accumulated problems; however, it has no clear political programme. Besides, the opposition has no chance to win the elections, because in the absence of the partisan system, we can watch only intra-power reshuffling, he said.
